Evasion of the red emerald 5Chapter Five: The Lands are changing
A pale light began to seep into my frozen brain; it eased its way inside, penetrating my eyelids. They unwillingly were dragged upwards; my whole body ached from the tension of the previous night. I wriggled, only to find Rouge, like lead on my shoulder with Rakki asleep under her arm, she stirred as I began to mumble about daylight rising. Rouge and I slowly got to our feet, it was bitterly cold again, and the lazy sun cast weak rays down to us which gave minimal warmth. I stood up, and gazed around us, the fierce river that almost stopped us last night was gentle and smooth this morning as if it had no recollections of its previous temperaments.Oh Mystique already looked awake and ready. Rouge mumbled as she rose and then the three of us stood looking at the gentle hill leading to the horizon. The wind blew strong, and Mystiques vivid auburn hair thrashed and waved behind her. What is beyond there? I asked anxiously.
